Cassius: Audio cassettes - reinvented

Ultra low-Noise, audiophile grade Tape Head Preamplifier for cassette decks

Are you a fan of audio cassettes? If you are, you already know that there is a lack of quality new players on the market. Even though the audio cassette is making a comeback, playback at the highest standards of quality has been a challenge. Until Now!

Introducing CASSIUS by NERENEAS: The Tape head preamplifier for cassette decks. By connecting CASSIUS to the tape head of your player, you will probably have the best sounding cassette deck ever made.

Besides its state-of-the-art performance and design, CASSIUS stands out with its stylish looks that will guarantee it to be the looker in your hi-fi rack.

But it’s not all form and performance with the CASSIUS, it’s also the plethora of features that it shares with its younger brother, GROOVESTER . Inside its small form factor, flat enclosure, lies an linear regulated power supply that includes a custom made toroidal transformer. This power supply is used for the analog signal chain and also for the digital control circuits. All the switching inside the machine is done by relays, thus ensuring that the input signal suffers no loss or added noise.

The gold-plated front panel boldly hosts four touch buttons that enable the selection of one of the two gain settings, the muting of the signal chain and also the EQ curve for Type I and Type II/IV cassettes.

On the back of the machine we can find the fully balanced XLR inputs and output but also a single-ended, unbalanced, RCA output. The input capacitance is selected via a 3-position switch, which enables a small, large or no capacitive loading of the tape head. Please take into account that the cable capacitance is adding to the extra capacitive loading provided by the CASSIUS.

Mini XLR to XLR cable is included with the CASSIUS. If your cassette deck doesn’t have a direct head output, don’t worry, we have a wide range of accessories that will make the modification of your deck very easy. Please check them out here.
